A little more about Jen!
“Back in 2009 I started my blog, Grainline Studio, as a creative outlet while working as a pattern maker in Chicago. Sensing a hole in the home sewing market, I launched our first pattern in 2011 and things took off from there! I’m passionate about teaching and firmly believe that sewing isn’t hard, you just need to take things one step at a time, figure out what works for you, and that the best tip anyone can give is to practice.
I also believe that there isn’t one technique that works for every person and that’s what’s so great about sewing – the multitude of different ways that can work to achieve the same outcome. My team and I strive to bring you, our customers quality, professional patterns along with all the help and information you may need to bring your ideas to life. What a dream team!!
This retreat will be all about Grainline Studio pattern sewing! Jen has a lot of really beautiful, versatile patterns sure to fit seamlessly into your wardrobe! We’ll be tailoring the weekend to your needs based on the survey results of attendees and create a schedule of break out classes. Need help with sizing? Sewing a welt pocket? Moving a bust dart? Attaching a waistband? Jen can help you through it. You’ll be able to pop into demos or skip them and keep sewing away!
And since Laura & Allyson are all about knitting, we’ll have plenty of opportunity to knit and chill. There will also be one on one knitting class sign ups available if you’ve got knitting questions!

Two full days of garment sewing instruction
Transportation to the retreat space from downtown Chicago, leaving Friday at 12pm CST and returning to downtown Chicago at 11am CST

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made up to 3 weeks prior to the retreat are eligible for a balance payment refund minus a 10% administration fee. Deposits are non-refundable.
Because of the potential for a dramatic Michigan weather event, if there is a blizzard and we have to cancel the retreat you will get a full refund.
